FARO Zone Viewer App

If you use FARO Zone 2D or 3D for forensic investigation, security or pre-incident planning, you probably need to share your results with others. The FARO Zone Viewer is the perfect sharing tool, and it is FREE. Likewise, if you work with someone who uses FARO Zone 2D or 3D and they send you a file with the extension *.far, you may be wondering what to do with it. Just download and install the FARO Zone Viewer, then use it to open any *.far or *.fzpc file.

The FARO Zone Viewer is only used to display FARO Zone 2D and 3D files. It cannot be used to make any permanent changes to the original *.far file or the point cloud data.

Functionality

• Display anything that is part of a FARO Zone 2D or 3D file, including 2D and 3D diagrams, models, bullet trajectories, blood spatter analysis, vehicle crush, measurements and more.
• If a point cloud is included with the .far file, the user is automatically prompted to open it.
• Choose to view the scene in 2D or 3D mode.
• View 3D scenes and animations from any position with complete control of zooms and navigation.
• Play animations, fly-throughs and walk-throughs that were saved with the FARO Zone 2D or 3D project.
• Choose which layers are displayed.
• Add temporary measurements for length, angle and area.
• Print diagrams at any scale or save as a PDF file.

Requirements if ONLY viewing FARO Zone 2D diagrams:

• Microsoft Windows 7, 8 or 10
• Central processor equivalent to an Intel i5 or better
• 4 GB of RAM or higher
• 8 GB of free hard drive space
• Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels
• A DirectX 11 compatible graphics card, such as an Nvidia^® Quadro 2000, GeForce 400+, Radeon HD4000+ or better, is recommended
• Any Windows compatible mouse with a scroll wheel

Requirements to view FARO Zone 3D diagrams, analysis and point clouds:

• Microsoft Windows 7, 8 or 10
• Central processor equivalent to an Intel i7 or better
• 8 GB of RAM or higher

• 12 GB of free hard drive space

• Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels

• A DirectX 11 compatible graphics card, such as an Nvidia^® Quadro 2000, GeForce 400+, Radeon HD4000+ or better, is recommended

• Any Windows compatible mouse with a scroll wheel 

Additional requirements to view FARO Zone 3D files in VR:

• 16GB RAM+

• Graphics card equivalent to GeForce GTX 1060 or better

• Oculus or VIVE VR goggles

• 3 available USB 3.0 ports

• HDMI 1.3 video output
